Due to the complexity of this habitat and the gaps in knowledge, an analysis of the protocol and its modalities is necessary. In parallel, optimization proposals are necessary for the relevance of the information provided and for apprehending a possible conservation status. La stéréo vidéo repose sur l’utilisation synchronisée de 2 caméras permettant de produire une image en 3 dimensions. Elle permet par triangulation d’obtenir une estimation précise de la taille de chaque individu et de mesurer les distances. En 2007 en Nouvelle Calédonie l’ IFREMER a développé des systèmes mono-vidéo autonomes et rotatifs (STAVIRO et MICADO). La caméra est déployée 12 minutes depuis un bateau sans immersion de plongeurs, le temps d’effectuer 3 rotations complètes. L’objectif de l’étude est de réaliser un bilan comparatif entre l’utilisation d’un système STAVIRO classique et l’utilisation d’un système équipé en stéréo vidéo. 59 stations ont été réalisées entre le 2 et le 13 juin 2014 dans le lagon sud ouest de la Nouvelle Calédonie. The main aim of the CAMP project (2009-2011) is to estimate the efficient connectivity between the Marine Protected Areas (MPA) of the South-West Indian Ocean (SWIO). For that purpose, we use a population genetics approach on 3 reef fishes: Epinephelus merra, Lutjanus kasmira et Myripristis berndti. The overall goal of the project is to provide new elements to MPA managers that will contribute to design the best network of MPAs in the SWIO. In the first year of the project, most of the time was spent to sample fishes. This study aimed to build two databases, the first on the historic effort and catches of the traditional small-scale fisheries from 1999 till 2014, and the second one on the traditional management of fishing licenses. The first database allows for a synthetic analysis of the results obtained on the fishing activities of beach-seine, fishing rod and on octopuses, in terms of effort and catch per area and year. Technical and scientific supports were supplied implementing survey protocols and supervision of a student, both within the framework of the small-scale traditional fisheries. The study supported traditional fishermen with the mediation process for regulation revisions for the fishing activities in the MPA areas.
